Summer Time Pet Tips

The heat is on, and your pet feels it. Make this a happy season for your animal by following these summer basics:
  • Stay cool - Keep your pet comfortable indoors with a fan or air conditioner. Outdoors, protect it with shelter that provides shade. Make sure your animal has fresh drinking water.
    .
  • Maintain a regular heartworm, flea and tick program to protect your pet from parasites.
    .
  • Groom your animal regularly. Brush leaves and dirt out of your pet's coat.
    .
  • Never leave your animal alone in a car, near a pool or close to an open window. It's courting disaster.
    .
  • Increased outdoor activity requires more care. Watch where your pet walks and what it eats.
    .
  • Be prepared for emergencies. Have a first aid kit nearby and call the vet if your pet ingests something it shouldn't.
    .
  • Make sure your animal has an updated ID tag with your address and telephone numbers.

Following these simple tips will guarantee a great summer season for you and your pet.
